On April 23rd, it was reported that the latest spy photos of BYD’s pure electric pickup truck had been exposed online. This vehicle is BYD’s first pickup truck and is expected to be available in two versions, one with a pure electric drive system and the other with a plug-in hybrid system. According to BYD’s new car plan, it was explicitly stated that BYD will launch an electric pickup in 2023, which is expected to belong to a new brand for “professional customization”.
From the spy photos, the BYD pickup truck features silver decorations around the front grille and headlights, with the large “BYD” brand logo embedded in the middle, giving it a tough appearance. In addition, the vehicle is equipped with square-shaped headlights, with layered high and low beam lights and a lens design.
The BYD pickup truck adopts a mainstream double-row seat layout and is equipped with side steps. Furthermore, IT Home noticed that the vehicle has a charging port on the right side of the cargo compartment, indicating its identity as a new energy pickup truck.
As for the powertrain, the BYD electric pickup truck may offer both plug-in hybrid and pure electric versions. It is rumored that the BYD electric pickup truck may be equipped with a hydraulic active suspension system, streaming media rearview mirror, Huawei AR-HUD, and a manual gear-shifting mechanism. The price range for vehicles under the BYD “professional customization new brand” is expected to be between CNY 400,000 and CNY 600,000 (USD 61,000 to USD 91,000).
