On May 19th, it was reported that the BYD Han DM-i Champion Edition and Han DM-p Warlord Edition will be officially launched on May 18th. The former has a price range of 189,800-249,800 yuan (approximately 29,400-38,700 US dollars), with a starting price reduced by 10,000 yuan (approximately 1,546 US dollars) compared to the old model, and the latter is priced at 289,800 yuan (approximately 44,900 US dollars). Both new cars have been upgraded to different degrees, such as the Han DM-i Champion Edition adding a pure electric version with a range of 200km, and the Han DM-p Warlord Edition equipped with the YUNNIAN-C intelligent damping vehicle body control system.
BYD Auto announced today that the cumulative orders for the Han DM-i Champion Edition/DM-p Warlord Edition on the day of their launch have exceeded 8,051 units. “The 200KM model accounts for 35.9% of the orders, with an average price exceeding RMB 240,000 (approximately USD 38,700)”, among which the 200KM model includes the Han DM-i Champion Edition 200KM version and the Han DM-p Warlord Edition priced between RMB 239,800-289,800 (approximately USD 37,100-44,800).
The Han DM-i Champion Edition has added a new Glacier Blue color option. The new vehicle comes standard with FSD variable damping suspension system, and some models can be equipped with YUNNIAN-C intelligent damping body control system (note: the official hardware is installed and will be upgraded via OTA within the year). In terms of size, the Han DM-i Champion Edition measures 4975/1910/1495 millimeters in length, width, and height, with a wheelbase of 2920 millimeters.
On the configuration side, the new car is equipped with wide-temperature range high-efficiency heat pump air conditioning, NFC mobile phone car key, BSD blind spot monitoring system, W-HUD head-up display, and more. On the power side, the new car uses a plug-in hybrid system composed of blade batteries and a 1.5Ti engine. In addition to the pure electric range of 121km, a new pure electric range of 200km has been added, with a hybrid mode range of 1260km and a power consumption of 4.5L per 100km. It also supports 6KW external discharge.
The appearance of the Han DM-p War God Edition uses BASF’s third-generation black paint, and is added with special black aluminum powder and a moderate amount of glass flakes. The black color has a delicate and subtle shimmer. The new car is also equipped with a War God Edition sports appearance package, including carbon black wheels, matte black logo, black metal triangular windows and borders, as well as Golden Armor Yellow high-performance four-piston calipers (front).
As for the interior, the new car is wrapped in extremely black high-end suede for the seats, door panels, passenger-side panels, and center console armrest, and is accented with black carbon fiber material, yellow stitching, and golden yellow seat belts.
The new car adopts DM-p hybrid technology, with a maximum power of 580Ps and a maximum torque of 822N·m. It is equipped with a super-intelligent electric four-wheel drive and can accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in 3.7 seconds. In terms of range, the Han DM-p War God Edition has a NEDC pure electric range of 200km and a comprehensive range of 1120km. The new car is also equipped with the YUNNIAN-C intelligent damping body control system (requires OTA upgrade), which can adaptively adjust the damping size according to the road and driving conditions to achieve millisecond-level adjustment of the damping.
In addition, both the Han DM-i Champion Edition and DM-p War God Edition have optimized materials and processes to reduce the unsprung mass and improve the overall handling performance. The suspension arms and steering knuckles are upgraded to aluminum material, and the component section is increased by about 2 times, reducing the weight by about 29%. The aluminum wheels use a spinning process, which is lighter, stronger and more durable, reducing the weight by about 10%. The aluminum alloy multi-link can bring a comfortable and sporty riding experience, and comprehensively improve the driving and riding quality of the entire vehicle.
