On April 13th, BYD Auto announced that some Han and Tang series models will be upgraded to the YUN NIAN-C intelligent damping vehicle body control system via OTA, and the upgrade is expected to take place within this year.
The specific models that support OTA upgrade to the YUN NIAN-C intelligent damping vehicle body control system are as follows:
Han series:
- Han EV Champion Edition 610KM (379 miles) four-wheel drive flagship model;
- Han EV Champion Edition 715KM (444 miles) flagship model (optional DiSus-C);
- Han EV Genesis Edition 610KM (379 miles) four-wheel drive deluxe model;
- Han EV Qianshan Cui Limited Edition;
- Han DM-p.
Tang series:
- 2022 Tang EV 635KM (394 miles) four-wheel drive flagship model;
- Tang DM-p 215KM (133 miles) four-wheel drive flagship model.
Earlier reports showed that BYD’s “YUN NIAN” technology is divided into four different vehicle body control systems with different orientations: YUN NIAN-C, YUN NIAN-A, YUN NIAN-P, and YUN NIAN-X. Different models are equipped with different technologies.
- YUN NIAN-C: intelligent damping control system. It adjusts the weak pitching and rolling of the vehicle by controlling and adjusting four electronic damping shock absorbers through the sensors on the car.
- YUN NIAN-A: active air suspension, which can be equipped with multi-chamber air springs to adjust the suspension stiffness and height. Combined with intelligent driving sensors, it can actively perceive the intersection ahead and achieve adaptive adjustment. The air suspension system is also combined with the seats to actively adjust lateral support.
- YUN NIAN-P: the most critical intelligent electronic hydraulic suspension used on the Tang U8. It actively adjusts the stiffness and height and has the ability to automatically level the body. Combined with multi-camera and lidar, it can actively perceive off-road surfaces and keep all four wheels on the ground, even if it drops 1.5 meters. It can also support three-wheel drive when necessary.
- YUN NIAN-X: BYD’s Low Rider air-liquid composite intelligent suspension, which has powerful body adjustment capabilities that can briefly lift the body.
