BYD considers building a new super factory for car batteries in Spain

On April 10th, according to the Spanish newspaper “Expansion”, BYD is considering building a new battery super factory in Spain, becoming the latest company to join the competition to build battery factories in Spain after Volkswagen/SEAT (already underway), Envision, Inobat, and Tata Motors.

Spain is one of the top five automobile markets in Europe and an important destination in BYD’s internationalization strategy for passenger cars. Since 2016, BYD has launched its pure electric bus business in the Spanish market, with a presence in major cities such as Madrid, Barcelona, and Valencia.

Earlier, the media reported that BYD passenger cars officially entered the Spanish market, launching three pure electric models: Han, Tang, and BYD ATTO 3.

BYD sold a total of 13,312 new energy passenger vehicles overseas in March 2023, and the total installed capacity of new energy vehicle power batteries and energy storage batteries was approximately 9.891GWh in March. The cumulative installed capacity for 2023 is approximately 26.991GWh.
