On August 9th, Tesla showcased a mobile supercharging station (Megacharger) in Las Vegas, specifically designed to provide power for its Semi semi-trucks.
This charging station is capable of charging Semi trucks at a power of 750 kilowatts, which is much more powerful than ordinary Superchargers. Currently, Tesla’s V3 Superchargers in the United States support a maximum of 250 kilowatts. This charging station only appeared in Las Vegas for a few hours before being dismantled and removed. It is reported that this is a mobile Supercharger that Tesla is testing, which can be installed and used in different locations at any time.
Tesla has already partnered with some companies such as PepsiCo and a cookie company, who have used Tesla’s semi-trucks and fixed supercharging stations in some areas of the western United States. These partners have stated that using Tesla’s semi-trucks and supercharging stations can reduce operating costs and carbon emissions.
According to Bloomberg, Tesla is seeking nearly $100 million in funding from the US government to establish a supercharging corridor from California to Texas, which will help Tesla expand its market and service range for its semi-trucks.
