According to media reports, after a long wait and multiple delays, Tesla’s electric truck Semi, launched in November 2017, officially began delivery last December.
According to the latest report, dozens of Semis have been delivered since December 1 last year, but some of them have defects in their components and will be recalled.
Tesla has delivered more than 35 Semis, according to recall information released by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
The NHTSA announced on its website last month that due to a defect in the parking brake valve module, it may not function as expected, increasing the risk of collision. Tesla will recall some Semis produced in 2023 and replace the defective parts for free.
According to information disclosed by the NHTSA, 35 Semis are potentially affected by the parking brake valve module defect, all of which were produced this year. This means that Tesla has delivered at least 35 electric trucks this year, in addition to those delivered in December last year.
Since the delivery time of the electric truck Semi is still short, there is still a considerable gap in delivery volume compared to Tesla’s other four passenger cars. Therefore, in the production and delivery data for the first quarter announced by Tesla on Sunday, no production and delivery data for Semi was given.
It is worth noting that although Tesla will recall 35 defective electric truck Semis, the NHTSA has not received any complaints about the defects. This is a voluntary recall by Tesla.
