On May 13th, Tesla announced that it will no longer produce right-hand drive versions of the Model S and Model X electric vehicles. Tesla has adjusted to right-hand drive markets such as the UK by canceling user orders. Prospective customers can either choose other models, purchase remaining inventory, or opt for the left-hand drive version.
A reader from New Zealand revealed to the foreign technology media Ars Technica that he ordered a right-hand drive Model X SUV three years ago, and Tesla contacted him yesterday to cancel the order.
Order information is as follows:
Due to adjustments in the vehicle production plan, the right-hand drive Model X model is no longer available.
We regret to inform you that this means your order cannot be fulfilled and will be cancelled. You will receive a full refund.
We understand that this may be disappointing news and apologize for any inconvenience caused.
Right-hand drive Model S and Model X cars are still sold in markets such as the UK, but new orders are not being accepted. Tesla states on its official website:
Going forward, Tesla will deliver left-hand drive vehicles in the UK. Deliveries before June 30, 2023 will receive three years of free Supercharging.
