Tesla Dec. 9, 2023 Update: Chinese Model S/X HW4 to Get TACC, Autosteer, NoA and More

On May 17th, Tesla China announced that it has decided to proactively recall some imported Model S, Model X, Model 3, and shanghai produced Model 3 and Model Y vehicles to cancel the mandatory energy recovery function. Tesla will upgrade the software of the recalled vehicles to version 2023.12.9 or higher for free, and users can complete the software upgrade without going to the store. However, the release notes for version 2023.12.9 have not yet been announced.

Tesla mentioned at that time that vehicles within the scope of this recall did not allow drivers to choose energy recovery braking strategies, and may not provide sufficient reminders for drivers who press the accelerator pedal deeply for a long time. These factors may increase the probability of long-term accidental acceleration and collision risk, posing a safety hazard.

According to the content dug out by Tesla hacker Greentheonly from the code, Chinese users will welcome a heavyweight update. Domestic Model S/X users will receive a series of functional updates in versions after 2023.12.9, including TACC, automatic steering, and NoA, and the default stop mode has been changed to coasting mode.

It is worth mentioning that Tesla China announced earlier this month that the new Model S and Model X models will be increased by RMB 19,000. Currently, the official prices for Tesla Model S and Model X are listed as RMB 808,900 and RMB 898,900 respectively.

Specifically, the Tesla Model S all-wheel drive version is priced at RMB 808,900; Model S Plaid is priced at RMB 1,028,900; Model X all-wheel drive version is priced at RMB 898,900; and Model X Plaid version is priced at RMB 1,058,900.
