Product Director Kate Park of Tesla’s Autopilot team has resigned

On April 19th, it was announced that Kate Park, the Product Director of Tesla’s Autopilot project, has left the company to join AI data platform Scale AI as their Product Director.

On Twitter, Kate Park expressed her enjoyment in the process of establishing the Autopilot data engine at Tesla, and is pleased to promote the product to multiple industries, from computer vision to large language models.

Kate Park was once a computer science student at Stanford University. In April 2018, she joined Tesla as an Autopilot computer vision intern. Prior to that, she had interned at Uber, Palantir, and Google. During her nearly five years at Tesla, she held multiple roles in the autonomous driving team and made contributions to the project’s development.

Many Tesla fans may still remember that last year, Tesla hosted an AI Day event where Kate Park demonstrated the Autopilot data engine and how it improved neural networks to enhance the performance of autonomous driving. Kate Park was also one of the inventors of a patent called “Autonomous and User-Controlled Vehicle Summon Target,” which Tesla received in 2020. She worked with Elon Musk and Andrej Karpathy to create this patent.

Kate Park will be joining Scale AI in San Francisco. According to Scale AI, “Our mission at Scale AI is to accelerate the development of AI applications. We believe that to create the best models, you need the best data.” Scale AI works with companies and clients such as Microsoft and Meta, as well as AI companies like Open AI and Cohere.

According to her LinkedIn profile, Kate Park is currently the Director of Product Management at Scale AI.
