US startup puts Tesla motor in classic Porsche 911, reaches 100 km/h in under 4 seconds

On August 13th, Sacrilege Motors, a US startup that specializes in electric vehicle conversions, launched an electric car based on a 1992 Porsche 911 sports car, replacing its original 6-cylinder gasoline engine with a Tesla Model S electric motor.

According to reports, the car is scheduled to debut at the Monterey Car Week on August 20th of this year.

The original powertrain of this Porsche 911 was a 6-cylinder engine + 4-speed automatic transmission. After retrofitting the Model S electric motor, the official claimed that the car can produce a maximum power of about 373kW and peak torque of 500N·m. At the same time, the vehicle weight is 1450kg, which is increased by less than 100kg compared to the original car. Thanks to weight control, the car’s acceleration time is less than 4 seconds per 100 kilometers.

In addition, the car is equipped with custom Penske adjustable shock absorbers, Brembo brake calipers, and Michelin tires. In terms of battery, the car has a battery capacity of 62kWh, reportedly providing a range of about 320 kilometers.

Porsche is planning to gradually electrify its vehicle lineup, with electric vehicles accounting for 80% of its sales by 2030, and plans to make its iconic 911 the only gasoline model.

Karl Dums, head of Porsche’s electronic fuel team, said the company plans to electrify its compact SUV Macan, followed by the 718 sports car, and then the best-selling Cayenne. However, the 911 model, which accounts for 13% of Porsche’s sales in 2022, is an exception.
