Tesla Shanghai exported over 127,000 vehicles this year, a 73% increase compared to last year

On May 9th, according to foreign media reports, the Tesla Shanghai Gigafactory, which was completed and put into production in 2019, and started construction in 2020, and put into production at the end of the year, has become an important export base for them. The Model 3 and Model Y produced here not only meet the needs of Chinese consumers, but also are exported to markets such as Europe and Australia.

According to data released by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, Tesla’s Shanghai-produced vehicles exported 39,208, 40,479, 12,206, and 35,886 vehicles in the first four months of this year, totaling 127,779 vehicles exported in four months.

Compared with the same period last year, the export volume of Tesla produced in Shanghai has increased significantly in the first four months of this year.

In the first four months of last year, the electric cars produced by Tesla Shanghai Super Factory were exported with the numbers of 40,499, 33,315, 60, and 0 respectively, with a total of 73,874 vehicles.

The export volume of Shanghai-produced Tesla in March and April last year decreased significantly, with no exports in April. This was mainly due to the fact that the Shanghai Super Factory was shut down for a period of time between March and April, which affected the export volume.

The electric cars produced by Tesla Shanghai Super Factory are mainly supplied to the European market. As it takes nearly a month to arrive at European ports, the export of Shanghai-produced Tesla mainly focuses on the first half of each quarter, with higher export volume in the first two months and lower in the last month.
