The 2023 Model 3 has now appeared on the official website of the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), with the range showing basically the same as the 2022 version.
This model is mainly divided into three versions in the United States:
- Standard range rear-wheel drive version (RWD) with 18-inch wheels has a range of 438 kilometers, while the 19-inch wheels have a range of 430 kilometers;
- All-wheel drive long-range version (AWD) with 18-inch wheels has a range of 576 kilometers, while the 19-inch wheels have a range of 537 kilometers;
- The high-performance version comes with 20-inch wheels and has a range of 507 kilometers.
Although the AWD long-range version appeared on the EPA official website, it is actually not available for ordering on the Tesla website, but it may be included in existing inventory. Tesla said that the Long Range AWD version is expected to be “available in 2023” (orders were stopped in 2022 due to high demand).
It is worth noting that the Model 3 RWD version is the only rear-wheel drive version and the only version that uses lithium iron phosphate batteries (CATL square batteries).
It is reported that the starting price of the 2023 Tesla Model 3 is $42,990 (approximately RMB 296,000 at present). Starting from April 1, the Tesla Model 3 RWD will lose its eligibility for full federal tax credits because its LFP battery is imported from CATL and not locally produced, which will greatly reduce its competitiveness.
