According to previous reports, He Xiaopeng stated during the Q4 2022 earnings call that XPENG will launch a brand-new all-electric 7-seater MPV in Q4 2021, which is expected to be the XPENG X9.

MPV refers to Multi-Purpose Vehicle, also known as a minivan, which is a vehicle with a mix of boxy and SUV-like features and can accommodate up to seven to eight passengers.

In Q1 2021, XPENG’s revenue was CNY 4.03 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 45.9%, which was estimated to be CNY 4.22 billion; the net loss was CNY 2.34 billion, compared to the market expectation of a net loss of CNY 1.898 billion and a net loss of CNY 1.7 billion in the same period last year. With such performance, XPENG really needs to come up with more eye-catching products.

In addition, netizens recently captured suspected spy shots of XPENG MPV models, which still use the XPENG family-style design and have a rare hatchback-style tail shape among MPVs.
