On May 22nd, it was reported that the first mass-produced version of XPENG G6 has been produced, and another piece of news that followed was that the official has cancelled the black knight version.
The car is positioned as a pure electric mid-size SUV, offering two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive. Its comprehensive research and development cost is about half that of previous platform models, and the iteration cycle of intelligent experience is shortened by 30%. According to previous reports, the XPENG G6 is expected to be launched in mid-2021 and start delivery, with an expected price range of 200,000-300,000 yuan, or about $31,000-$46,500 US dollars.
XPENG G6 is the first vehicle model based on SEPA 2.0 architecture, equipped with an 800V+ silicon carbide platform, which not only enables fast charging but also has low energy consumption. In addition, the new car is equipped with dual LiDAR, second-generation XNGP, and intelligent voice control at the ceiling level, and even has ample interior space.
XPENG has hired Liu Cixin as the foresight design consultant for the XPENG G6’s appearance. The car is designed with the concept of “technological flowing aesthetics”, with a rounded overall appearance. The LED light strip in the front of the car is designed with a break in the middle, and the headlights and the laser radar below are integrated.
It is reported that XPENG G6 is equipped with a total of 31 intelligent sensing hardware and can provide 508 TOPS of computing power, which can support advanced assisted driving functions.
The XPENG G6 adopts a streamlined design, with 17 low air resistance designs such as hidden door handles and wheel rims, making the car’s drag coefficient only 0.248.
In terms of body size, the length, width, and height of the XPENG G6 are 4753/1920/1650 millimeters, and the wheelbase is 2890 millimeters. It also has a 60.8% axle length ratio. The car is also equipped with an adaptive lift wing that can automatically adjust the lifting height according to the speed.
The XPENG G6’s interior adopts a new design style. The entire center console is integrated with the “vector star ring” design. The full LCD instrument panel is 10.2 inches, and the central control screen is 14.96 inches. It is equipped with Xmart OS 4.0 car system and supports full-scene four-audio zone voice function.
In terms of configuration, the XPENG G6 is equipped with windless intelligent air conditioning, panoramic sunroof, front seat heating/ventilation, and wireless charging panel for mobile phones, and supports the “XOpera XPENG Music Hall” function.
In terms of power, the XPENG G6 will provide two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive versions. The two-wheel drive version has a maximum power of 218 kilowatts and a peak torque of 440 Nm. The four-wheel drive version has a comprehensive power of 358 kilowatts and a comprehensive torque of 660 Nm. The car will be equipped with 66 kWh lithium iron phosphate and 87.5 kWh ternary lithium batteries, supporting 800V fast charging, but battery life information has not been announced.
