On June 9th, XPENG announced that its new “super-intelligent sedan SUV” XPENG G6 has started pre-sales today. The pre-sale price starts from 225,000 yuan, which is approximately 35,000 US dollars, and deliveries will begin in July.
XPENG G6 welcomed its first new car offline on May 22nd. The car is positioned as a mid-size electric SUV coupe and competes directly with the Tesla Model Y. The car offers two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive options, and its comprehensive research and development costs have been reduced by about half compared to previous platform models. The intelligent experience iteration cycle has been shortened by 30%.
XPENG G6 is the first model built on the Dragonfly architecture with an 800V + silicon carbide platform, claiming to have a range of 300km with just 10 minutes of charging. Additionally, the new car is equipped with dual lidar, second-generation XNGP, and an intelligent voice assistant at the ceiling level.
On the appearance side, XPENG has invited Liu Cixin as the forward-looking design consultant for XPENG G6. The car adopts the “technology flow aesthetics” design concept and has a rounded exterior. The middle of the car’s LED light strip is designed to be disconnected, and the headlights and the bottom laser radar use an integrated design.
It is reported that XPENG G6 is equipped with a total of 31 intelligent sensing hardware and provides 508TOPS computing power, which can support advanced assisted driving functions.
The XPENG G6 features a sleek, aerodynamic design with 17 low-drag features including hidden door handles and wheel rims, resulting in a drag coefficient of just 0.248.
In terms of dimensions, the XPENG G6 measures 4753/1920/1650 millimeters in length, width, and height respectively, with a wheelbase of 2890 millimeters and a 60.8% wheelbase ratio. Additionally, the vehicle comes equipped with an adaptive lift tail wing that automatically adjusts its height based on the car’s speed.
XPENG G6’s interior adopts a brand-new design style, with the entire center console incorporating a “vector star ring” design. The full LCD instrument panel measures 10.2 inches, while the center control screen measures 14.96 inches. It comes equipped with the Xmart OS 4.0 infotainment system and features a full-scene four-audio-zone voice function.
In terms of configuration, XPENG G6 is equipped with a windless intelligent air conditioning system, panoramic sunroof, front seat heating/ventilation, wireless phone charging panel, and supports the “XOpera Music Hall” function.
On the power side, the XPENG G6 will offer two types of power: two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive. The two-wheel drive version has a maximum power of 218 kilowatts and a peak torque of 440 Newton meters, while the four-wheel drive version has a combined power of 358 kilowatts and a combined torque of 660 Newton meters. The car will be equipped with two types of battery packs: a 66 kilowatt-hour lithium iron phosphate and an 87.5 kilowatt-hour ternary lithium battery pack, and supports 800V fast charging. The CLTC comprehensive range is claimed to be up to 755km.
