On June 8th, according to the information sent by Tesla to its suppliers, the company plans to produce 375,000 Cybertruck electric pickups annually and launch candidate models by the end of August.
We noticed that the Tesla website shows that the Cybertruck is planned to be delivered “at the end of the third quarter”, which means approximately the end of September 2023.
Recently, Tesla CEO Elon Musk also gave production predictions for the Tesla Cybertruck at the Tesla annual shareholder meeting. He believes that approximately 250,000 new vehicles can be produced each year, but later added that it could be between 250,000 and 500,000.
Now, through internal communications and communication with suppliers sent by Tesla to the Cybertruck project (named “Mount Everest Project”), Electrek has obtained more details.
Tesla requires suppliers to plan for a basic annual production capacity of 375,000 Cybertrucks. This seems to be more aggressive than Musk’s public statements at the Tesla annual shareholder meeting, but Tesla has been constantly adjusting, which is also within a reasonable range.
According to communication with suppliers, Tesla plans to release the first Cybertruck candidate model (release candidates) by the end of August, which is the “pre-production vehicle” before formal production begins. Based on the current timeline, Cybertruck should officially start production around early October.
Tesla suppliers also pointed out that Tesla’s delivery activities are only for employees and internal personnel, just like when Model Y was first launched.
