On August 17th, news broke that @brandedflasch had recently discovered two Tesla Cybertrucks on a trailer on an American road. The biggest highlight was that one of the Cybertrucks had the words “Completed Crash Ready” on its window.
From the photos, there doesn’t seem to be any dents, indicating that Tesla is planning to transport these Cybertrucks for crash testing.
According to reports, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has a vehicle research center in Ruckersville, Virginia, and the location where the Cybertrucks were found is about a 13-hour drive from the center.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) Vehicle Research and Test Center (VRTC) is located in East Liberty, Ohio, and the location where the Cybertrucks were found is about an 11-hour drive from the center.
Tesla has announced that the first Cybertruck has been produced at its Texas Gigafactory, but a specific delivery date has not yet been disclosed. It would be reasonable to transport the Cybertruck to IIHS or NHTSA for crash testing before official delivery.
