On May 18th, Porsche announced a partnership with Apple, becoming the second electric car manufacturer to officially deploy Apple Maps EV Routing.
Apple announced for the first time at the WWDC 2020 developer conference that it will support EV Routing in Apple Maps and revealed that it is partnering with Ford and BMW.
Ford was the first to introduce this feature in the Mustang Mach-E model launched last year, but BMW has yet to announce any action in this regard.
Porsche announced this feature in a press release:
Every Taycan is equipped with the Porsche Charging Planner, which optimizes parking based on the expected charging status (SOC) upon arrival, traffic conditions, and your average speed.
Drivers can interact with the vehicle in multiple ways, such as through Apple Maps EV Route, to have more options when planning their trips.
Note: When Porsche owners activate the Apple Maps EV Routing feature and their iPhone is connected to CarPlay, Apple Maps will track the car’s battery level and provide detailed navigation directions for road trips, including whether you need to stop for charging and the charging time. It will also display your estimated cost when you arrive at your destination.
