GM will phase out CarPlay and Android Auto and use its own in-car system instead

According to a Reuters report, General Motors (GM) announced that it will gradually phase out Apple’s CarPlay and Google’s Android Auto and instead use the in-car system co-developed with Google starting this year.

General Motors stated that its brands including Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, and GMC will start the replacement process one after another.

Starting with the 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV launched this summer, subsequent new cars will no longer natively provide Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. This elimination plan will be deployed to fossil fuel cars starting in 2035.

General Motors and Google have been developing the in-car system since 2019, integrating General Motors exclusive services such as navigation and Super Cruise, as well as built-in applications such as Spotify and Audible.
