DeepRoute-Driver 3.0 intelligent driving solution has recently been officially released. Driver 3.0 no longer relies on high-precision maps and does not have regional restrictions. Intelligent driving vehicles equipped with this solution can achieve global high-level driving functions within the coverage of navigation maps. Based on the technical framework of Driver 3.0, DeepRoute has also launched D-PRO and D-AIR two intelligent driving products. The intelligent driving vehicles developed in cooperation with automobile manufacturers will be available in the consumer market in 2023.
Currently, most advanced intelligent driving functions can only be used in areas covered by high-precision maps. Due to strict regulation, the coverage of high-precision maps is currently limited to highways, expressways, and some sections of six cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Hangzhou, and Chongqing.
At the same time, the collection and production of high-precision maps are complex. In order to ensure the “freshness” of maps to meet the safety needs of intelligent driving, maps need to be frequently updated. The collection workload is enormous, inevitably requiring a large number of people and vehicles. The price of high-precision maps is several times that of navigation maps.
DeepRoute’s latest release, Driver 3.0, has a more accurate perception system that can perceive detailed road information covered by high-precision maps, such as lane lines, traffic lights, road signs, and prompts. Driver 3.0 can also locate the vehicle in real-time and accurately determine the lane the vehicle is in as well as the distance from adjacent lane lines. With the support of Driver 3.0, intelligent driving cars can switch to more cost-effective navigation maps, bringing a safe, reliable, free, and coherent intelligent driving experience.
Here is a video demonstration:
Based on Driver 3.0, DeepRoute has launched two intelligent driving products, D-PRO and D-AIR, which integrate parking and driving functions.
D-PRO is a global advanced intelligent driving product that achieves global point-to-point driving within the coverage of navigation maps. In addition to highways and expressways, D-PRO can also independently plan routes and driving decisions in congested and complex urban sections and complete intelligent and safe driving operations.
D-AIR is an advanced driver assistance system that focuses more on cost-effectiveness, with functions such as ACC, LCC, ILC, APA, and AEB, and its market price is only 80% of products with similar performance and functions. Currently, the hardware cost of D-AIR is about $1,060.08, and the hardware cost of D-PRO is about $2,158.01. After being put on the market, both can be upgraded through OTA to continuously unlock new functions and improve driving capabilities.
Yuanrong Qixing conducted generalized testing of D-PRO and D-AIR in 16 cities including Shanghai, Shenzhen, Chongqing, and Hangzhou. In congested sections during city rush hour, D-PRO can actively find opportunities to overtake; in complex intersections with traffic and pedestrians, D-PRO can real-time and accurately perceive surrounding traffic participants and complete difficult actions such as unprotected left turns.
Even at asymmetric crossroads without lane markings, D-PRO can still plan its travel path under the guidance of the navigation map, compete with surrounding vehicles, and efficiently pass.
To many drivers, non-motorized vehicles on the road are more random factors. When mixed with motor vehicles in narrow sections, D-PRO can flexibly avoid bicycles that emerge from oblique or lateral directions. Similarly, at ramp junctions, D-PRO can also automatically change lanes and seamlessly merge into the main road.
DeepRoute was established in Shenzhen in 2019 and is a technology company that focuses on researching and applying advanced intelligent driving technology in the passenger car and light truck business sectors. In the passenger car field, DeepRoute has cooperated with multiple automakers to produce intelligent driving cars, and has conducted a large amount of autonomous driving (Robotaxi) road testing and trial operations in cities such as Shenzhen, Wuhan, and Hangzhou. In the commercial vehicle field, DeepRoute has cooperated with Deppon Express to provide automatic driving freight transfer services, which is a successful commercialized project of automatic driving light trucks in China. Since its establishment in 2019, Yuanrong Qixing has accumulated more than 10 million kilometers in national safety road testing.
