On August 1st, Munro Live, a YouTube channel, predicted in its latest video that the Cybertruck may be lighter than its competitors, the Rivian R1T and the Hummer EV. The prediction was based on official photos released by Tesla, spy shots shared by netizens, and the channel’s experience of disassembling Model Y and Model 3 cars.

In the video, Sandy Munro and Cory Steuben analyzed the many spy photos of castings exposed in the Texas Gigafactory, and believed that the Cybertruck adopts an integrated structure, which can further reduce the weight of the body compared to the ladder frame chassis used by Hummer and Rivian.
According to Steuben, “This structure, coupled with an efficient battery pack, eliminates the need for a traditional frame.”
Steuben believes that the weight of the Cybertruck may not be less than 6000 pounds. For comparison, the Rivian R1T’s Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) is rated at 8532 pounds, while the Hummer reportedly weighs over 9000 pounds.
