On April 19th, CATL unveiled its innovative cutting-edge battery technology, the condensed battery, at the 2023 Shanghai Auto Show. The energy density of a single unit can reach up to 500Wh/kg, creatively achieving both high energy density and high safety for the battery, and it will have the ability to be mass-produced by the end of this year.
It is reported that the condensed battery is an aviation-grade battery. CATL’s chief scientist, Wu Kai, stated that CATL is currently collaborating on the development of a civil electric passenger aircraft project, executing aviation-grade standards and testing to meet aviation-grade safety and quality requirements.
Wu Kai, chief scientist of CATL, stated that this is a significant breakthrough for CATL in the battery field. The condensed battery has features such as high safety, strong reliability, and long cycle life. The energy density of a single unit of the battery reaches 500Wh/kg, and it can be quickly mass-produced. The next step is to introduce products that meet automotive regulations.
