According to Pengpai News, it has been learned from the global leader in power battery industry,CATL, that their flagship technology, CTP battery, has already achieved mass production.
On June 23rd of last year, CATL released its third generation CTP (cell to pack) batteries. Compared to the previous two generations, the third generation CTP batteries have completely eliminated the module form design, and through optimization of the cooling structure, have further improved battery safety, lifespan, fast charging performance, and specific energy density.
According to CATL’s introduction at the time, the volume utilization rate of the third generation CTP battery exceeded 72%, and the energy density of the ternary cell could reach 255Wh/kg, while the energy density of the lithium iron phosphate battery system could reach 160Wh/kg. The battery pack integration degree is the highest in the world. In the same chemical system and with the same battery pack size, the third generation CTP battery pack’s capacity can increase by 13% compared to the 4680 large cylindrical battery system.
As the world’s first mass-produced model of CTP batteries, ZEEKR Electric’s pure electric mid-to-large MPV ZEEKR 009 is expected to be delivered in the second quarter of this year, about 1-2 months after the mass production of CTP batteries. ZEEKR Electric stated that “currently, the proportion of MPV ZEEKR 009 CTP battery orders is very high, which surprised us.” In addition, the 2023 ZEEKR 001 WE version 100kWh model can be equipped with a 140kWh CATL CTP battery pack, with a limited offer of 1000 sets of thousand-mile endurance packages. After choosing this battery pack, the vehicle’s CLTC comprehensive working condition endurance can reach 1032km.
Previously, CATL also stated that the company has formed a product series including high-energy-density ternary high-nickel batteries and cost-effective lithium iron phosphate batteries, and is currently comprehensively promoting battery technologies such as sodium-ion, M3P, condensed state, cobalt-free, all-solid-state, and rare-metal-free batteries.
