On March 30th, CATL announced that the company has implemented battery swapping using the “chocolate battery swap block” model, which has achieved mass production and has the service network capability for thousands of vehicles.
In January of last year, CATL’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Times Electric Vehicle, launched the EVOGO battery swapping brand, which is specifically designed for shared battery swapping and has a new battery named “Choco”. According to official data, it will use CATL’s latest CTP technology, with a weight energy density of over 160Wh/kg and a volume energy density of over 325Wh/L. The single block of the chocolate battery swap block currently has a charged capacity of 26.5 degrees, and a single battery can provide about 200 kilometers of endurance, while the entire replacement process only takes about one minute.
In addition, the adaptability of the chocolate battery swap block is also relatively wide, and it can be adapted to 80% of pure electric vehicle models that have already been launched globally and will be launched in the next three years.
According to Chen Weifeng, general manager of Times Electric Vehicle, the EVOGO battery swapping solution has the characteristics of one battery for multiple vehicles, on-demand rental of electricity, and rechargeable and replaceable. “‘Chocolate battery swap blocks’ can be used for passenger cars and logistics vehicles from A00 to B and C levels.”
On April 18th of last year, CATL announced the launch of its first battery swap service project in Xiamen, and the first cooperative model for its battery swap service was the Bestune NAT, owned by FAW.
