It is reported that Amazon and Rivian are considering ending an agreement between them and will no longer require Rivian to exclusively sell its distribution trucks to Amazon.

It is reported that Amazon told Rivian in recent months that the company plans to purchase about 10000 trucks this year, which is only the lower limit of the previous purchase plan. Rivian then launched negotiations aimed at ending the exclusive agreement.

This exclusive agreement was first signed in 2019.

Amazon is the largest shareholder of Rivian, holding 17% of the company’s shares. Amazon said that this investment and the plan to purchase 100000 Rivian trucks by 2030 will become an important part of its emission reduction plan.
Both sides have been trying to reduce costs in recent months, including layoffs.
