Lamborghini’s first plug-in hybrid vehicle will soon appear, replacing Aventador. Stephan Winkelmann, CEO of Lamborghini, also revealed at the preview of the vehicle that its SUV model, the Urus, will also launch a plug-in hybrid version in 2024.
It should be pointed out that Lamborghini has manufactured and sold a hybrid vehicle – the limited edition Si á n FKP 37, which uses supercapacitors to partially realize electrification. It is expected that the Urus plug-in hybrid version launched next year will use a powertrain similar to the Porsche Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid. According to the information of IT House, the vehicle is currently equipped with a dual-turbocharged V8 engine and electric motor, which together output 671 horsepower.
Huracan’s successor is expected to appear at the end of 2024 and will also be a plug-in hybrid vehicle. At present, it is not sure whether it will retain the naturally aspirated V10 engine or reduce it to the V8 engine. It may adopt the dual-turbocharged configuration, while the successor of Aventador, code-named LB744, will retain the V12 engine, so Huracan is also expected to retain the V10 engine.
What will happen after these two plug-in hybrid vehicles? Lamborghini’s first all-electric car, of course. Winkelmann revealed that it planned to launch its first pure electric model in 2028. He did not disclose the details, but he said in an interview with Auto Express that the car would have four seats, two doors, and higher ground clearance than the typical Lamborghini model.
The second pure electric vehicle of Lamborghini will be the Urus pure electric model, which will be officially unveiled around 2029.
