On June 19th, it was reported that the Tesla Cybertruck electric pickup truck is one of the most anticipated electric vehicles of the year, with approximately 1.5 million people having pre-ordered the vehicle. The latest statement from Tesla officials is that they plan to hold delivery events for the vehicle around the end of the third quarter of 2023, which is around the end of September 2023.
Previously reported by Electrek, Tesla told suppliers to prepare for the Cybertruck’s candidate version to be launched in late August and put into production in early October. There are many signs that Tesla is moving towards production, including leaked production images from the Texas Gigafactory. Now, there is more good news: a Tesla Cybertruck prototype has been spotted being unloaded from a plane and arriving at an airport in New Zealand.
Although the vehicle is covered, it’s easy to recognize that this is the Cybertruck electric pickup. It’s not surprising that the vehicle appeared in New Zealand because Tesla has previously used local test facilities for winter vehicle testing. While Tesla primarily uses test facilities in Alaska for winter testing, when it’s summer in the northern hemisphere, Tesla uses test facilities in the southern hemisphere in New Zealand. We have noticed that Tesla has already conducted winter testing on the Cybertruck in Alaska, and now this vehicle may be undergoing final testing in preparation for production. It’s expected that the Cybertruck will perform well on snow and ice because the vehicle has up to 4 electric motors, providing a full-time all-wheel drive system and rear-wheel steering.
