The new Tesla Model 3 may have ventilated seats, ambient lighting, and a better sound system

On June 13th, it was reported that Tesla is undergoing a major redesign of the Model 3, codenamed “Project Highland.” While the car is still in the rumor stage, test vehicles have been spotted multiple times, indicating that the redesigned Model 3 may come with new features. The latest rumors suggest that the new car may inherit some features from its larger siblings, the Model S and Model X.

One of the biggest highlights may be the ventilated seats. Tesla introduced ventilated seats in the redesigned Model S and Model X in 2021, and it now appears that this feature will also be available in the Model 3. We noticed that Twitter user Kelvin Yang (@KelvinYang7) first revealed this news, and he had previously accurately disclosed some information about Tesla China. Later, Tesla enthusiast Jay in Shanghai also shared a video showing what is believed to be the ventilated seats of the Model 3. From the video, we can see that the overall design of the seats has not changed much, but there are small holes on the seat bottom and backrest that allow airflow, and there is also a motor at the bottom of the seat.

Yang also stated that the new Model 3 will be equipped with ambient lighting and an upgraded sound system. Ambient lighting is a highly anticipated feature among many car owners, with some even installing third-party kits on the market. This is also a standard feature in many high-end car models, but people have different preferences for it. As for the sound system upgrades, there is currently no specific information, but it is possible that a second subwoofer will be added.

According to the recently leaked “Highland Plan” for the Model 3, some of the exterior changes for the new car include new front and rear headlights, as well as front and rear bumpers. In terms of the interior, there are also signs of a new steering wheel and the elimination of the gear shift.

It is reported that Tesla’s Shanghai super factory has begun trial production of the redesigned Model 3, and Drive Tesla has learned that the Model 3 production line at the Fremont factory will be closed this week for renovation to adapt to the new design. The production line is expected to be shut down for about a week for the renovation.
