On May 22nd, it was reported that due to higher-than-expected demand for Rolls-Royce’s first electric car, the Spectre, customers may have to wait up to three years to receive their desired vehicle. CEO Torsten Müller-Ötvös stated at the Concorso D’Eleganza Villa D’Este event in Lake Como, Italy, that if an order is placed now, delivery may not be possible until 2025.
Spectre is the first fully electric vehicle in Rolls-Royce’s history and a move towards low-carbon travel for the company’s future. The model adopts a new design concept and reinterprets classic Rolls-Royce elements, such as the tilted Pantheon grille and interior details. According to Müller-Ötvös, Spectre is the most aerodynamically efficient model in Rolls-Royce’s history, with a range of over 500 kilometers.
Müller-Ötvös also said that Spectre’s design and engineering were based on customer feedback. The company has launched two electric concept cars, the 102EX and 103EX, in the past decade and learned a lot about range and charging time. He said, “We don’t need to be ahead in terms of range, but for our customers, a range of 500 kilometers is more than enough.”
Currently, Spectre has attracted the enthusiasm of many customers, and Müller-Ötvös said, “All customers who have ordered Spectre are very satisfied with it.”
According to previous reports, Spectre has been launched in the Chinese market and is available for pre-order, starting at 5.75 million yuan. It is expected to begin delivery in Q4 of this year. Looking back at Spectre’s specifications, it has a maximum power of 430kW, torque of 900 N·m, a CLTC range of 585 kilometers, 0-100 km/h acceleration in 4.5 seconds, and wind resistance of 0.25cd.
